In August of 2013, CHAP was granted a pivotal opportunity to expand our services and scope in the region. CHAP joined a consortium of grantees led by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks (OAF) to establish enrollment navigator programs in Ohio under the definitions of the ACA. We are honored to be a part of this state-wide consortium and working so closely with our fellow sub-grantees in Northeast Ohio: Asian Services in Action, Inc. and the Carmella Rose Health Foundation.
Navigators are trained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and licensed to serve consumers by the Ohio Department of Insurance. The role of a navigator is to help consumers apply for Medicaid or an insurance plan available on the Health Insurance Marketplace as a fair, balanced, and impartial guide throughout the process. Navigators will spend extra time with consumers to help them understand how to use their coverage and even help them schedule their first primary care appointment.
To schedule an appointment with a navigator in Cuyahoga, Lorain or Summit Counties, please call CHAP at 1-888-929-2427 (CHAP).
